I love the 4th of July! The weather, the colors, and the parades are so much fun! And don’t even get me started on how much I enjoy all the food. The picnics and barbecues are right up my alley.
And of course I love that we get to celebrate our great country and all the men and women who sacrifice so much for us.
Truly, this is a land that I love.
Sure, I know it’s not perfect. I read the news everyday and I am aware that our country has serious problems. But I am so, so grateful that I get to live here. That I get to raise my kids here.
One of my favorite books is 1776 by David McCullough. (affiliate link) It was a truly humbling and inspiring read for me. I cried often while reading it. And when I turned the last page, I vowed that I would never take my right to vote lightly. That I would vote, even if it felt like my vote “might not count.” And I would teach my children to honor this country and the men and women who serve us.
Because one day, I will meet all the people who have fought, died, and been injured (mentally and physically) while fighting for my freedoms. And I really want to honor their tremendous sacrifices.
I wanted to create a printable that reflects our love of this country. I hope you like it as much as I do!
This patriotic printable is size 10×8 and looks great in a frame, but it can also be resized. I think it would be so cute on the front of cards or used in scrapbooking. Just seeing this print has made my girls excited for all the Independence Day fun. You can find a free matching banner here. Hooray for fun, cute, & easy holiday decor! ♥
And I would love to hear from you! What do you do to help your family understand the importance of the 4th of July? I would love some more ideas!
